Rigoberto C. Advincula announced as Editor-in-Chief for MRS Communications
The Materials Research Society (MRS) and Cambridge University Press are pleased to announce the appointment of Rigoberto C. Advincula, full professor at the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, as Editor-in-Chief of MRS Communications. He succeeds Peter F. Green, who announced his intention to step down as founding Editor-in-Chief last year, due to a new position at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and who kindly agreed to stay on until a successor could be identified.
Advincula is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Fellow of the Polymer Science and Engineering Division, Fellow of the Polymer Chemistry Division. He received the Herman Mark Scholar Award in 2013 and served as Chair of the Polymer Division in 2015. Advincula is currently on the Editorial Board of a number of major polymer journals including: Reactive and Functional Polymers, Macromolecular Research and Polymer Reviews. His research group covers topics in: polymer materials, nanocomposites, colloidal and interfacial science, hybrid materials, 3D printing, and ultrathin films towards applications from smart coatings to biomedical devices.
Speaking of his appointment, Advincula commented: “This is an exciting opportunity! My goal is to see MRS Communications set the pace in materials research. The Prospective articles are a vanguard of things to come. We welcome the best submissions from the materials community!”
Executive Director of MRS, Todd M. Osman, speaking on behalf of the Search Committee and the MRS Board of Directors, stated, “In Rigoberto Advincula we have found the ideal editor-in-chief to continue the exceptional groundwork laid by Peter Green. Rigoberto brings a breadth of expertise that will ensure that the journal represents the very best work being done across the full spectrum of materials research. We are grateful to Peter for his dedicated service as the journal’s inaugural Editor-in-Chief, and we look forward to working with Rigoberto on MRS Communications and on the MRS journal portfolio.”
